Kathmandu: President Ramchandra Paudel and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachana' have conveyed their warm wishes for happiness, peace, and good health to all Nepali sisters and brothers, both at home and abroad, on the occasion of Tamu Lhosar, the most significant festival of the Gurung community.
In his message, President Paudel expressed hope that the festival would energize everyone towards building a socially and economically prosperous country by fostering mutual trust and unity. He emphasized the role of the Gurung community in promoting Nepal's tourism while preserving and celebrating the country's cultural traditions.
PM Prachanda underscored the shared responsibility of institutionalizing the beauty of the federal democratic republic and internalizing the country's distinctive features. He highlighted the national characteristics and identity of Nepal, including democracy, social justice, national unity, sovereignty, and patriotism. The PM assured that his government was committed to addressing the key challenges and meeting the national aspirations for prosperity.
Both leaders expressed confidence that Tamu Lhosar would inspire all Nepalis to contribute to the national duty of maintaining social justice, good governance, and prosperity while promoting national unity.
Tamu Lhosar is celebrated by the Gurung community to bid farewell to the passing year. The festival involves feasts, cultural programs, and is associated with the sun's rays reaching Gurung settlements. The government has declared a public holiday on the occasion, and the Gurung community is organizing a special program at Tundikhel, Kathmandu.
